Lana Del Rey

Elizabeth Grant (born June 21, 1986) better known by her stage name Lana Del Rey is an American singer-songwriter. Her stage name is a combination of the late old Hollywood actress Lana Turner and the Ford Del Rey. Grant was born in New York City and grew up in Lake Placid, New York. When she was fifteen, she left Lake Placid to go to boarding school in Connecticut. She is the daughter of domain investor Rob Grant. Grant chose her stage name, Lana Del Rey, based on suggestions from managers who believed that a name reminiscent of the high society Hollywood glamour would better suit her cinematic style of music. She released an EP titled "Kill Kill" in 2009, under the name Lizzy Grant. She also recorded a full-length album with producer David Kahne, which was shelved for unknown reasons. The album was called "Lana Del Ray a.k.a. Lizzy Grant". Her song "Video Games" was named "Best New Track" by Pitchfork Media and was featured on The CW TV-Series Ringer. Grant played her first US show at The Box in New York City on September 21, 2011.
