Robert John Hummel (born March 8, 1989) is an American college basketball player for Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Robbie Hummel attended Valparaiso High School, located in Valparaiso, Indiana. Playing under coach Bob Punter, he played alongside his future college Freshmen teammate, Scott Martin (who transferred to Notre Dame). Hummel averaged 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a Viking his Senior season. He was selected as a member of the Indiana State All-Star Team and also named First Team All-State with current NBA player, Eric Gordon.
Hummel attended Purdue University to play under head coach, Matt Painter, and associate head coach, Paul Lusk. He averaged 11.4 points (2nd on team), 6.1 rebounds (1st) and 2.5 assists a game in his freshman year. Hummel led the baby boilers, along with Chris Kramer, JaJuan Johnson, Keaton Grant, Scott Martin and E'Twaun Moore to a 2nd straight second-round NCAA Tournament appearance.
